White-throated dipper on a rock

Koskikara / White-throated dipper / Cinclus cinclus

The most typical sight where you see a dipper is on a rock or at the edge of the ice, bobbing up and down before it dives back into the rapids to search for food. This small bird is extremely cold-resistant; its plumage is very dense, allowing it to thrive in such harsh conditions. The photographer already had frozen toes and fingers while this little one chirped happily between its dives.
