Metso/ Capercaillie / Tetrao urogallus

The female capercaillie boasts magnificent patterns in her plumage. The female is considerably smaller in size compared to the male. The spring courtship rituals culminate in mating, after which the female lays 6-9 eggs in a nest on the ground. After an incubation period of just under a month, the chicks hatch, and over time, they grow into these majestic kings and queens of the forest.

Kevään soitimet päättyvät paritteluun, jonka jälkeen naaras munii 6-9 munaa maassa olevaan pesään. Vajaan kuukauden mittaisen haudonnan kuluttua poikaset kuoriutuvat, ja ajan mittaan niistä kasvaa näitä uljaita metsien kuninkaita ja kuningattaria.
