Kuikka / Black-throated diver /Gavia arctica

The most elegant of birds, a black-throated diver emerging from its dive. Surely, everyone has heard the signature call of this bird; its plaintive melody belongs to Finnish summers. This individual was photographed just as it arrived from its migration journey. I lay camouflaged by the lake shore and had the privilege of observing the divers' fishing up close.
