I have spent hours photographing these lekking great crested grebes from floating hide. This situation is between a couple (not fighting males) and the behaviour is to do with bonding and building their relationship. This “spring dance” happened very close to me and I was lucky to fit the both birds in frame when they suddenly emerged up from the water.
